On February 28, 2017 Fujifilm launched their first medium format camera GFX 50S. Now they’re adding onto the GFX line with the 50R.
The new GFX 50R will be released sometime in November 2018 and is going to come in at around €4,500. This is €1,500 less than 50S, which certainly is an achievable price for some consumers.
The Details
The 50R will have a 51.4 megapixel sensor and whats interesting is Fujufilm have chosen to use a Bayer filter with their medium format cameras instead of their own XTrans. It’s also styled like a rangefinder which people will find appealing, considering normal medium format look like a box this is a big plus. This camera and the previous 50S use the new G mount which currently has 7 compatible lenses and 3 more have been announced to be released over the next 2 years. You can see all the lenses here on the Fujifilm website.
